If you're a liberal and you don't get conservatives, or even if you think you do - watch this. This is a fantastic starting point for a discussion on conservative values. There's some humor too, but the basics are very solid here.

So I decided to abuse myself and take a stab at actually watching the video, my comments in bullet points (because they are cool):

Now the more serious reply: If this speech is a great example of the fundamentals of conservative values, then I'd NEVER be a conservative. This video was someone who didn't go up their to present a compelling argument, he didn't go up there to try and make people understand. He went up there to bash liberals, and say some very broad ideas that he knew the audience would eat up. Judging by the title, I know at least one audience person did eat it up.

Maybe if he spent less time attacking liberals with stereotypes at best, and lies at worst, it might of been at least a decent speech. Instead it is a video for people who hate liberals, and anyone who doesn't will be turned off in the first five minutes. His values are something everyone but the extreme progressives believe in, and I would assume he SHOULD know that. What I got was a massive, "liberals are evil," speech and little else. It makes it sound as though he thinks liberals don't like women or guns, they hate private property and freedom, they hate progress, they are jerks, etc.

If THIS is a great example, then there is something wrong with conservatives, there was nothing great about it. It was nothing but a hit piece on liberals, and thus I'm hardly shocked that you, Laz, find it to be "great."

1. I did you the honor of actually reading this tripe. Didn't need to but since you watched the video I decided to read it.

2. You loaded this with mischaracterizations of meaning, over-generalizations, and all kinds of other pseudo-bullshit. It's not even worth addressing one of them.

3. There's a term for people who do this. Liberal Drone, or lately the term is "Obama Drone".

4. The way I see it, this obviously hit close to home for you. It is an in-your-face indictment of what you believe. No wonder you responded this way and with such vitriol and sarcasm. Here's the problem. The policies and beliefs of the left aren't working. Period. And they never will. I noticed you completely ignored the cell phone example in the speech. You know that is true as well as the rest of what is being said here. Maybe some day you'll get over your denial and admit these things. If not, I'm ok with it.

As for stereotypes, it's liberals living up to the stereotypes that got us in this mess in the first place, from the housing bubble to this foreign relations crisis we're in now. But you go ahead and keep denying it. That's fine. Liberal Progressives are generally not evil. Just unrealistic and lacking understanding of human nature. It's why the Soviet Union failed, you see.

I watched some of this video, and it's mostly just mischaracterizations of his political opponents. Is that how the Relublican party defines itself? As an alternative to mischaracterizations and exaggerations of the left? Curious that they're losing elections.
