He never said that. You are intentionally twisting what he said to further your cause. It's hard to believe your claimed Christianity when you are intentionally dishonest like that. Are you not afraid of burning in hell for that sin? And as there is no proof, sure, an open minded and honest person would definitely say he can't be 100% on the god thing. But I can be 99.9% and that's good enough for me.

I'm the last person to want to infringe on anyone's right to speak their mind. But this guy strikes me as a grade A idiot.

My question is - does this represent the typical atheist's viewpoint? I mean I know Dawkins is seen by many as a leader in the Atheist movement; how many atheists are going to speak out against this stupid crap that he keeps saying about pedophilia? I think he needs to be shamed into shutting up about it. It's really sick if you ask me.

You missed the ENTIRE point of his comment.

Lets look at the last line:

"I can’t find it in me to condemn it by the same standards as I or anyone would today"

Now altering it to make it only about him

"I can’t find it in me to condemn it by the same standards as I would today"

He condemns mild pedophilia. When looking back though, he feels that he can't condemn it to the the same standards as he would today. Where in the world does he say, "I don't condemn pedophilia?" He just doesn't condemn it as strongly because different things were socially acceptable in a different era.

Interestingly enough, I don't Fault Laz for this. It is an aspect of Christianity. Interpreting things wrongly....

The problem with every one of these topics is evident.

You're opening your comments saying that "he never said that". Um, there's a fucking video on the link where Dawkins explains in no uncertain terms that he's an agnostic. He also wrote about it in a best selling book.

Now as to the pedophile comment - THIS IS WHAT DAWKINS SAID:

So, can you say definitively that you are not an atheist but are simply an agnostic? Or are you not, as you said yourself "an open minded and honest person"? Because an atheist says "There is no God". Not "I'm pretty sure there is no God."

So which is it? You really can't have it both ways, now can you (or maybe you think you can, in which case there's no reason for us to discuss this further)? At least Dawkins is being honest, to his credit.
