Re: Hatin' on WWII vets?
It's absolutely a fair comparison - hell the primary purpose of many of the National Parks is to get the hell away from everything and doesn't involve anyone from the NPS. But as the articles I posted above indicate it's not that simple, the NPS is in charge of the facilities and during the shutdown can't risk incurring any liability.

You're the one who creates the hyperbolic claim that I said Barack Obama called up someone and said "shut it all down", or that Barack Obama placed the barricades himself in a pathetic attempt to make claims that the Obama Administration ordered the shutdown look silly.
The bottom line fact is that the President did order the shutdown of these monuments and his administration did order that barricades be placed in public, open spaces to prevent people from walking around - different than any other shutdown. This wouldn't happen without his directive.
So be as hyperbolic as you like, but it still doesn't change the facts.

Yeah and i can file a lawsuit because i think you smell bad. That however doesn't mean im gonna win any damn thing. While im at it i can also say people can file a lawsuit right now for tripping on a barricade or hurting a leg jumping over one. Filing a lawsuit means nothing in other words.

Re: Hatin' on WWII vets?
What does the fact that the Park Police are still there have to do with anything I've said? The fact that the Park Police are there does nothing to prevent a violation of the Antideficiency Act.
And you entirely missed my point - compare the world from 1996 to today. Lawsuits happen that change the landscape of potential liability, planes are crashed into buildings and security and access to public locations change - as does the perspective of the people in charge of public facilities.
