Re: Hatin' on WWII vets?
Nope. Just the one whose agency that operates at his personal discretion has purposefully ordered the parks service to close off monuments that are normally free and open to the public 24/7, for absolutely no reason than to be a petulant prick, at an additional expense than normal.
How can you not agree that this is bullshit? Damn are you on the White House payroll or something?

I don't agree because when the government shuts down.....it shuts down.. It takes government employees to clean and prepare these parks and memorials. I understand that the situation sucks, and I agree with you on that aspect, but you can't argue the slope by saying Obama targeted specific things such as the WW2 memorial.

Okay - time to clear the air: did it happen? Yes. Who's to blame? the Congress who shut down the government.

The really interesting thing is that there is no explanation as to how the park was reopened after it was closed. However, the GOP representatives were on scene to usher the vets in for a photo op. Rep. Huizenga, and the other unnamed Reps may have broken the law in opening the park after it was closed as a non-essential facility:

Re: Hatin' on WWII vets?
Ira you're just wrong. The park is just... there. It has been since it opened, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The park doesn't close because the government shuts down. Anyone can walk down the national mall dude, it would cost more money to block it off than to just leave it alone as usual. Unbelievable.
How do you people not get this?

Re: Hatin' on WWII vets?
It's run by the National Park Service - and I could get you more info if the NPS site wasn't shut down - it's just like the fact that they closed Yellowstone, or Rainier National Park, or the Grand Canyon. The NPS is shutdown and so are all of it's facilities. Arguing that this specific closure is a deliberate move on the part of Obama is idiotic.
