Re: A brilliant response to anti-abortion harassment
Well Obama hired the guy Ira. If you can't judge people by the company they keep, that would be a new one on me. Just sayin'.
As for Holdren saying whatever he needed to in order to get the job, well there's a lot of that going around in Washington; and it starts at the top.
Again, just sayin'.

At some point in time you max out what can be produced. We aren't there yet but eventually it will happen unless we find different methods of doing things. Once it gets close to that you'll see food and water go the way of ammo the last couple years. Plenty for the gov but not so much for the little guy.

Ira, how about this... When I write a book on a subject (which takes a lot of time and effort to do I might add) - expect me to have a pretty firm lifelong belief regarding that subject. Unless I specifically say that I was wrong about what I thought and take it back. If Holdren did that I might be satisfied. Otherwise he's a douchenozzle. That's all.

Re: A brilliant response to anti-abortion harassment
These issues can be easily resolved given enough time. Considering it would be hundreds of years (if not more) before we get to the point you're describing, I think there's plenty of time to solve that problem, provided businesses have the opportunity to do it and governments get the hell out of the way. Shit in 100 years I doubt seriously we'll all even still be living on Earth, and think that there's a decent chance we'll be in the midst of an amazing age of space exploration. Increases in technology and compute power will bring about some startling game changing changes that none of us have even thought about yet, in all areas of human existence, including this bullshit about how we're gonna suck the earth dry of all its resources. (yeah and the polar icecaps will cease to exist as well right?) Come on DG, we'll be just fine. We need to stop being so arrogant thinking that we have to control everything up to and including who gets born and who does not.

Re: A brilliant response to anti-abortion harassment
LOL - that's the fucking point - take the statement from the book in CONTEXT and actually read what he says. You read the text and get anywhere close to abortion and your done - but he doesn't say that. He says that conditions may exist in the FUTURE which COULD make people choose these more radical steps. Time has shown that the evil he feared - unsustainable population growth - has in fact not occurred. That merely means that his supposition was incorrect.
But at its base - he clearly supports abortion and/or other population control measures. And for you that is a non-starter. Fuck - leave it at that. You disagree with the guy about his stance on a topic you hold near and dear - I get it. Neither you nor I have met the man to my knowledge, but all 100 of the members of the US senate agreed that he was fit for the job - ALL OF THEM. This guy is not a Nazi - and to insinuate such is vile and unbecoming on your part fueled by the dribble you find on the internet.
I'll say it again - go find better informed and rational sources if you are going to parrot the shit you find on the internet.Quote

I too have never heard of multi-story buildings and believe that everyone in Manhattan lives side by side in a paltry amount of space.
Not saying that we could sustain 7+ billion people in Texas, but I will guarantee that if we tried we could give each of them more than 100 sqft.

The problem is we multiple faster then the amount of time that is required and it will continue to speed up the more people there are. Then you say providing businesses have the opportunity like the government doesn't continue to rain shit down on companies. We wont be fine. Eventually we will be our own demise. Its the planet that will be just fine.

You may have mentioned it, but then you do math and state we can't have roads because then people couldn't have their space. Everyone in the world living in a space the size of Texas is quite a stupid argument either way, but to assume that if it did have to happen that anyone would think it would be without the aid of some type of multi-level living quarters is even more retarded.
