Laz, even if your numbers are the correct ones, 1000 is 1000 too many and that doesn't count the number of women injured and maimed by those illegal abortions. Death is not the only risk of illegal medical practice.

Re: A brilliant response to anti-abortion harassment
Really? So where is the crusade against slipping and falling in the tub
Something like 16,000 people each year die that way. I could come up with more examples but I don't see the point. Death rate is a good barometer overall; injuries vs. deaths usually correlate to one another. The numbers relating to abortion were statistically insignificant, so no reason to legislate specifically to "save women's lives". It's just nonsense.
There might be other reasons, but realistically this ain't one of them is all I'm saying. I highly recommend you read the entire article I posted before.

It's not a good barometer here.
I'd like you to read what you posted as well
Last sentence
" The fact is that prior to legalization abortion had become relatively safe and easy to obtain — for those who could afford it. Studies done at the time show that the risks were borne disproportionately by those who couldn't, mostly minorities. Were abortion to be recriminalized, that would likely be the case again."

Re: A brilliant response to anti-abortion harassment
Also, Lazarus, please stop making up numbers.
16,000 die at home from accidents each year with 6000 of those being from falls. Many less than 6000 are falls in the tub.
Furthermore, this is not relevant at all to the discussion

Death and injury from attempted illegal abortions: Easily fixable (as we've seen)
Falling in the house: Not really fixable
Shooting each other with handguns: Very unlikely to be fixable (at least in short term and in significant numbers)

The stats on abortion didn't change from before the law - or they barely did! lol wow you guys talk about confirmation bias... Ah well never mind what is the point. Bottom line, abortion is absolutely abhorrent and represents racial genocide on top of it; but since a few hundred women's lives might have been saved a year it was all worth it... right? I think we agree to disagree here.

You are cherry picking an imaginary stat that is only relevant to you. You also in my opinion refuse to look at anything that might challenge your assumptions. I accept you the way you are - whatever. But I also think what you are doing when you decide to do that is wrong.

Re: A brilliant response to anti-abortion harassment
I have read everything you posted in this thread. Have you done the same for what I posted? I doubt it as you have ignored everything i have said other than one comment.
Mother's rarely die from even botched abortions because medical care is and has been good enough to save their life. That has nothing to do with morbidity of mothers who had abortions performed by people who were not medical professionals (including themselves). YOUR post even supports this "IMAGINARY STAT" Before saying I don't read what you post, maybe read the articles that you post yourself.
