    Define News.
Two idiots sitting at a desk, talking about The Beebs, is considered "news" these days.

Well most news is subject to how an individual interprets whats going on. Of course there are certain items that are cut and dry but a lot is not.

As an example sure that could work. At first he refused to show it and that made the news. Then he did provide one and holes were poked in it. What was never said was it didn't matter where it was from. As long as one of his parents was from here he is a US citizen and perfectly able to run for office. News is mostly how a person perceives it. They may have omitted the last part but that didn't make the first two lies. A bit dishonest sure but not a lie.

Generally there is always some sort of slant unfortunately. The only time opinion should factor in is in speculation as to the 'why'. It's very easy to report the 'what' without a slant, but networks typically are incapable of doing that.

    Example:

"Dozens killed in artillery barrage in Gaza strip today"

That is a fact, but unfortunately we can't just be told that without some sort of

    "Israeli oppressors continue Palestinian genocide..."

    Or

"Palestinians willingly supporting Hamas in provoking Israeli military attacks."

Those were just hypothetical headlines, but it's all in how the material is presented, and news networks care more about reactionary headlines that attract viewers than actually informing them of important information.

How is dishonesty different from lying?

Dishonesty can be an omission or not verify something before passing it along. Lying means you knowingly told something that is not true.

That's ignorance, not dishonesty. Dishonesty is deceit, lying, lack of integrity, deception...All of these actions are done knowingly. Yes.. Dishonesty = Lying. Merriam Webster will also disagree with you

    Re: 18% truthiness, Fox. 18%.

This for some reason just reminded me...does anyone watch John Oliver's new news show? He had a bit Sunday night about CIA dishonesty and the torturing of prisoners.

The CIA director said something like "we absolutely aren't spying on our senators, that is beyond the scope of reason"

...Only to issue an apology shortly after for spying on our senators.

I'm pretty sure that's lying no matter how you look at it

No ignorance is a lack of knowledge. I said omission or not verifying. Remember we're talking about "news" agencies. The ones where research is suppose to be part of the job and not the average person.
