    Bombs Dropped

The US has bombed some ISIS locations.

U.S. airstrikes begin on ISIS militants in Iraq - CNN.com

    Interesting approach.

I support Obama in this decision. I think he made the right call for now.

I agree, and I definitely didn't expect it to happen so soon.

i´m skeptical...as always; how efficient can these airstrikes be in disrupting ISIS expansion in the long run?

Depends on what you mean by "can". Obviously, they can be 100% effective. I guess it all depends on how many we use, and where.

    Re: Bombs Dropped

In his address I think he did a very good job of defending his choice of action and the motivation and necessity for action...

...that being said, there are plenty of other instances in which the same case could be made in which we didn't act. I think the presence of American citizens in the country as well as our history in the region made all the difference as to why we acted here but didn't in the genocides in African countries. Like he said, there's far too many conflicts and we can't get involved in all of them - we have to be careful and intervene only when necessary. The decision of, whether it's actually necessary or not, well that's where the hair-splitting comes in. But at this time and in this instance, I support the decision made.

Dropping a lot of bombs doesn't always mean a victory (see: Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia). It might be easier in Iraq than Vietnam due to geography.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

The only difference is just how tied are the hands of our troops. In iraq and afgan it was pretty lose but those it wasn't. Politics have to stay out of the big picture when waging war.
