However, this is just as stupid:

I'm not sure what he expected. The guy was clearly pissed. The guy was obviously an ignorant sob. Why the hell would you walk up on someone with attitude and not expect that they might decide to turn it physical.

You see a rabid dog barking at you ... you don't walk up and try to have an argument with it. You certainly don't walk up to it and poke it with a stick.

... just stupid all the way around ...

People have to learn to walk away and pick their battles.

Why?

The fight started over a spilled drink (like 53% of all public altercations) so obviously people were drinking - and so maybe no one needed a 'reason'. If I had to pick a reason, it might be this quote:

The couple had been at XES Lounge earlier that night, but moved to Dallas BBQ in search of their cheap margaritas

Also, this is NY. It's not like gay dudes need a reason to get up in your face about being a homophobe - or anything else, really .

Doesn't mean it isn't stupid all the way around. I totally agree with you there.

Edit: Just watched the video and - ouch. Lotta one-sided rage. That's an assault charge, if anyone wants to push it.

Sorry ... I don't have oodles of empathy for you even if the fight was one sided. You see the guy shoving the man that belted him with a chair. If he had any sense and walked away at any point (instead of shoving the pit bull away) he may have been spared a chair upside his head. Of course, putting a guy in the hospital or worse is unacceptable.


People have to learn that they can't puff up their chest and be shocked when someone decides to accept the challenge and cave it in.

If he had done like Mayweather and just run away, folks would have declared him the winner and the best fighter ever ... a defensive genius!

So pit bulls are allowed to viciously attack people because it's in their nature? Just as drunk thugs are allowed to be assholes and criminals because they think they are stronger than someone? What society do you guys live in? A man stands up for himself and gets his ass beat and we have people saying he deserved it?

I'm not sure that's what he means. I wouldn't presume to speak for him but my interpretation, based on that and previous statements would be that you need to know when the smarter choice is to walk away.

I once, at work, in a meeting had someone piss me off and I told him exactly what I thought. He lost his shit, kicked his chair back, and stood over me yelling at me to stand up. Everything in me wanted to do just that and end that POS. However, the rational side of me also knew that he was no pushover and if I stood up I would likely eat a punch or two before I ever had a chance to raise my own fists. Given that, I chose to sit and dismiss him by turning back to the meeting and looking at the owner like "you going to do something here or what?"

That guy should have chosen his battle a little better. Did he deserve it? Of course not. But unless you are Steve Irwin you don't poke a gator in the ass with a stick and walk away unscathed. And it didn't turn out too good for him in the end either.
