Yup. Make it easier to get here legally.

As far as Langrad's thing. I know it sounds clever to say everyone is an "immigrant" but to be clear, most people are not immigrants in the common use of the word. If you were born in America, then you are an American plain and simple, whatever your great great grandpa did isn't relevant.
Try telling that to Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson
Now its about race. God i love it here. Any topic in the world gets twisted to 4 others. Good job festus i didnt even see that one coming. LOL

I would if I could, but that's another topic.

You know what irks me,..the conditions in Haiti were so bad before the quake hit that after the quake the conditions got only slightly worse. The help they are receiving now is a heck of alot more than slightly more help they were receiving before the quake. Everyone is rushing in to help now but nobody cared before....

Are you talking to yourself? How much aid did you send to Haiti two years ago?

The reason no one "cared" (and actually,we did....not only were there US Forces there for a long time, but UN Forces as well...to keep the peace) was because Haiti's problems, were Haiti's fault. The place is a shit hole, because of the people there. Look at the country they share the island with.....they made it a very popular vacation destination (Dominican Republic)....and the manufacture many things as well...cigar anyone? The Dominican Republic has made their piece of the island very successful...and they started by not killing each other. It is pointless to try and help people who refuse to help themselves.

The reason people care now,is because this is a natural disaster....they can happen anywhere. They didn't cause this. This is also one of those very rare times that the whole World is on the same page....every one bands together, regardless of politics, and pitches in to help. Roses bloom out of shit.

How does a child help himself? Once again, the problem starts with education, people are born and raised and can only continue on the path of what they know. Sure, people donated all the time. You would even see the commercials ALL the time. What I'm getting at is why the lack of RAISING AWARENESS before? A society of people killing each other is a society that believes it is okay to kill each other, how do you expect that to get turned around if what they do is believed to be right for their survival?

It's not anyone's job to turn them around....it's their job. Do you actually think they kill each other because they don't know any better? The US was there for years...and the same with the UN. Their problems come from within...not because other Nations didn't "raise awareness". They are responsible for their own actions...or lack thereof. Their next-door neighbors improved themselves...and they could to.

We turned ourselves around....remember the Wild West...or the Civil War? The point is that without a willingness and a concerted effort on their part,Haiti will always be a shit hole....no matter what anyone else does. They have to do it for themselves.

Many of the doctors that went to help are now heading home, fearing for their safety. We have tried to help, and are trying to help, but they don't want the help.

It's not anyone's job to turn them around....it's their job. Do you actually think they kill each other because they don't know any better? Absolutely, "better" being a time when they didn't see death all around them. If a child grows up in that kind of society then how would he know any different? The US was there for years...and the same with the UN. Their problems come from within...not because other Nations didn't "raise awareness". They are responsible for their own actions...or lack thereof. Their next-door neighbors improved themselves...and they could to.

We turned ourselves around....remember the Wild West...or the Civil War?The difference being that the people in the US at the time had the chance to experience compassion from others. Different story in Haiti. The point is that without a willingness and a concerted effort on their part,Haiti will always be a shit hole....no matter what anyone else does. They have to do it for themselves.
The problem is something has to be accomplished in a timely manner. The people will know no different if they've never experienced anything different. If the country's always been a shit hole then guess what, it always will be a shit hole if we leave it to them to fix it. How does a child who grows up in that kind of environment make it better when he thinks nothing is wrong with it? You know the ol saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well guess what, to them, it's not broke because they don't know what fixed looks like.

Edit: my reply in bold above.
