Novel idea, YOU teach your kids what you think is truth, and dont rely on someone else.

According to the COTUS, as much business as the state and people of Texas want him to have.

Re: Texas Board of Education and the Re-writing of American History

I'm not talking about any specific post.

I foresee my history teacher(Army - vietnam) seeing this then at the age of 65(not too far off) retiring and taking a good old American road trip on down to Texas to go postal on this BoE...

Didn't the founding fathers want to separate religion from state?

I'm all for any private school to preach in history class parents pay for their kids to get only the best, right?

I'm all for any public(meaning government funded as I use it) school stating that most our founding fathers were very religious Christians(but not all of them, some weren't even religious).

I AM NOT okay with public schools teaching kids that america is a christian nation, that it should be, or ever will. It is not, it will not, and it never has been.(Maybe it's the fact that I live in Portland)

Even our founding fathers promoted religion regardless of faith, and more specifically upholding modest values while following strong morals... most of these people did own slaves though... just a funny thought.

also: something about separation of church and state...

Modesty is a value you cannot find in any modern US American.

Neither do you obviously look up all the high school scores on the ACT and SAT we score significantly lower than most other states. Most of texas schools are behind on math courses, usually a year or two behind everyone else. I started pre algebra in 8th grade while a lot of my cousins from Louisiana were already starting algebra 2. That says a lot about our schools.

Read this for texas SAT scores. This is for 2009 I believe.

Although for the ACT scores, they went up in texas this year but still behind over 34 states.

I know you might not think this is a reflection of texas education, but the fact of the matter is that it is a reflection on texas education as a whole.

As a kind of devil's advocate thing, I was taking algebra in the 5th grade, but that's the gifted program for you.

Well aren't you a smarty lol. It depends on the schools, i'm just stating texas as a whole in education. Sure there are schools that are great with their education.
