A fundamental aspect of living in a free society is the ability to make bad decisions.
"Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work. "

"THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
THEN THEY CAME for the trans fat,
and I didn't speak up because I enjoyed not eating trans fat constantly.
THEN THEY CAME for the salt,
and I didn't speak up because I didn't mind adding salt myself.
THEN THEY CAME for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
THEN THEY CAME for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
And by they I mean National Socialists German Workers' Party."
- Pastor Martin Niemöller
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. And socialists, by which I mean all liberals." -
- Thomas Jefferson
"To arms, citizens,
Form your battalions,
Let's march, let's march!
May an impure blood
Water our furrows!
What does this horde of slaves,
Of traitors and conjured kings want?
For whom are these ignoble trammels,
These long-prepared irons?"

New Yorkers must be too dumb to think for themselves and be smart about what they eat. Their legislators seem very concerned about it. Fortunately, the guys they voted in are way smarter than everyone else and can make all the right decisions for their poor, ignorant constituents.
Why not just pass a law requiring food service establishments to clearly post the salt/trans fat contents off all their menu items?Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

Salt isn't just for seasoning either. It's used in cooking to get things to release moisture. And you have to use it at certain TIMES while cooking. They seem to think that dropping it entirely from the cooking process and allowing diners to shake a little on at the time they eat is acceptable. Maybe to some, but frankly, if I was a chef in NYC and was being told I couldn't use a specific ingredient (especially one as base, yet necessary as salt) I would leave the city. Totally unacceptable.

Mr Ortiz's bill follows a high-profile attempt by the city's mayor, Michael Bloomberg, to encourage New Yorkers to consume less salt.
The city estimates about 1.5 million residents already suffer from high blood pressure, which can be exacerbated by consuming too much salt. In the US, the average daily intake is 3400 milligrams, compared with the recommended maximum of 2300 milligrams.
Mr Bloomberg's campaign aims to cut the amount of salt in packaged and restaurant food by a quarter in five years. Unlike Bill A10129, however, it is purely voluntary.Join the TPG Folding @ home team: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/pc-h...ding-team.html
