That's just insanity. I think a return to prohibition makes more sense for health.

Reality is restaurant food is laiden with salt. So much so many people are getting sick from it. I myself need to maintain a strict 2000mg of sodium a day or risk the chance of getting vertigo. I have lost hearing in one ear and there is a chane that it could return if I keep to this diet. Sodium is also a main factor in hyper-tension which is high blood pressure. 1 in 3 americans suffer from high blood pressure and a majority of those are do to high sodium intake. As you can imagine I cannot go out to eat. There is hope for those who do not need to keep thier sodium intake low. I doubt very seriously that they will remove the salt shaker and if they do I don't think it will be illegal to bring your own. If a law like this should pass I might be able to go out to eat and that would be great.

    2000mg isn't that bad sly.

    Recommended daily intake is 2300.

My real concern is that salt is fairly necessary (at least in small quantities) for a great deal of foods. I'd shoot myself in the foot rather than spend time in my own kitchen without salt.

I don't know...I've gotten used to eating my food prepared with little to no salt...just about everything...steak, chicken, rice, eggs, seafood, etc etc.

Only thing i really use salt (well salt shaker salt) for is making pasta. Almost any meat/chicken/pork product gets marinated in Soy Sauce though (so i get my sodium still )

Nevermind the obvious problem associated with the government taking a tiny little freedom away from the citizens it exists to serve...ridiculous. Salt...really...Cigarettes, legal, booze, legal, salt? no no, silly citizen, salt is bad for you! You cannot have salt!

steak, chicken, rice, eggs, seafood... yeah.

When you make soup, fresh pasta, anything baked, or a myriad of other things, it's hard to go without a BIT of salt. I don't use much at all, but what I do use is most necessary IMO.
