Well, it seems the constitution worked just fine up until what, 9 years ago, so according to most we have a great foundation to start with unlike the countries you mention.

Well, then based on that argument I can't be happy, or really live life, without a million dollars in my bank account. Is Congress going to give that to me as well? There are many things I could say I have a right to, but really I have the right to pursue those things, not have them handed to me.

Um, did I forget basic English, or is everything in that link saying that they DON'T have the right to do so under the constitution?

All i'm seeing is that the preamble (which is what we are currently debating over) has no political power.. and that the general welfare clause is not an independent grant of power.

So yeah, I think you are right.

No, I am honestly asking. To me all the quotes seem to say that the government does not have the right to tax for the general welfare of the population. Are you reading it the same way, or differently?
