Government Spending? Waste not, want not? YouCut program...

So, I saw this and thought i would post here for some opinions...

It's a novel concept...We the People vote weekly (if we want to) to cut a wasteful program from the federal budget, the winning program get's a vote on the house floor.

In these tough economic times, millions of households are cutting personal spending - mine included...should we hold our government to the same standards of fiscal responsibility? (And I am not against cutting military spending either...just so you know)

Millions of dollars spent on Stimulus Bill Marketing Signs? Why? Who could defend that? It took 43 presidents to get to the current $5T in debt - we can only get out one baby step at a time.

What do you think?

Money goes round and round.

Gov -> people -> taxes -> back to gov -> back to the people-> taxes -> back to gov -> back to the people and so on.

You are saying we should cut on spending, then the people who were getting paid are now getting paid less, now they spend even less.....adding to the problem.

What theory of economics is that based on?

If you go into debt and experience a reduction in income/revenue - what do you do?

Your Jinxy Theory of Money Circulation with money just-a-flyin' 'round and 'round seems kind of defeatist.

The Government is not obligated to keep all government employees employed - just as no private company is obligated to keep all of it's employees employed in lean times. People get laid off, suck it up.

I saw a funny show last night that said we have spent millions of dollars on signs saying things like "stimulus funds in action," so instead of using the money to actually stimulate jobs we are using it to brag about stimulating jobs, lol.

That theory is based off common sense. Am I wrong? Does the gov just scoop up all the tax revenue and hot wire it to Obama's personal bank account?

Personal debt is different from national debt.

Hell if we played it safe 24/7 since the beginning of our country we would not have made progress.

Laying off thousands of government employees is just going to drain more from unemployment and reduce consumer spending....which then effects private companies.....which then they will fire their own employees to make sure they can stay in business.....

then you have more of a mess on your hands.

Domino effect.

I dont think you are thinking as logically as you think you are.

Explain, specifically, how national debt is different than personal debt - Should we even try to get rid of national debt? If not, then maybe we should stop keeping track of how large it is?

You sort of sound like the kind of guy who says "Eh, I'm always going to have a mortgage, car payment, and a few grand on credit cards, so F it."

I want your opinion. Further, I want your explanation of your opinion. That's all! I want to know why you believe what you believe about national debt.

Yea really, I used Obama as an example since he is our CURRENT PRESIDENT! but to you its bait.

LOL nobody say Obama cause its bait!

He is the highest person on the food chain so if the money is stopping somewhere it would be him......since "money rotation" does not exist.
