Re: Kill the Ground Zero Mosque TV Ad
Digi and Scott said it the best for me.
You do have the freedom of religion in this country as a citizen. But at the same time, private land owners have the right to sell their land to anyone who they deem. Dont be pissed at the people who want to build the mosque there, but be pissed at the people who sold them the land to do so. A mosque that close to ground zero is just in poor taste and an overall bad decision. New Yorkers will remember what happened on that and will handle it their way. Someone may light a fire to the building some day, and who knows the FDNY may never respond to the call because it is a Muslim church......

Which would be inexcusably stupid...... And make whoever did or supports this action no better than the terrorists that they blame the mosque members to be..... Short sighted bigotry, if you ask me.
The place is being built 2/3 of a mile from GZ, why is this such a slap in the face?

"Imagine on the 10th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, we let the Japanese erect a cultural center at the site of that attack. Exactly. It would never happen."
"New Yorkers should by now have built from that giant hole at ground zero a single, mammoth tower as a one-finger salute to radical Islam and all the terrorists it inspires. Instead, they're building an Islamic tower that Muslim fanatics from around the world will no doubt use as a memorial to their fallen "martyrs" and what they did to us on that "blessed day" of 9/11."
"This latest outrage follows one over the Flight 93 National Memorial, which also made a paean to Islam. The original design for the Shanksville, Pa., memorial — called a "Crescent of Embrace" — featured a pathway in the shape of a crescent moon, a prominent symbol in Islam. Only protests from the families of the victims of the flight — downed by Muslim hijackers shouting "Allahu Akbar!" — forced its redesign."
I gotta say the article seems a bit out there but i do agree with what it is saying over all. If i knew 100% that everything in it was true i would have some real concerns. As for the mosque in general. It's in poor taste with 0 class to even consider building it anywhere near ground zero. You want to build fine but you will have to complain about when someone tries to destroy it.

Manhattan Island is 22.7 square miles (58.8 km²) in area, 13.4 miles (21.6 km) long and 2.3 miles (3.7 km) wide, at its widest (near 14th Street).[55] New York County as a whole covers a total area of 33.77 square miles (87.46 km²), of which 22.96 square miles (59.47 km²) are land and 10.81 square miles (28.00 km²) are water.
It's kinda hard NOT to be close, and considering that it was to meet the needs of the Muslim population in the financial district it's obviously going to be in the area.

Did anyone read this one? It turns out that the people went to the community and received their support in the building of the mosque.

"They own the building and under city law have the right to build what they want there. Nonetheless, they spoke to the local community board and asked for its approval - something they didn't have to do. They got its support."
Thats hardly going to the community and getting their support. Thats a to say the least a very very small portion of the community.
http://wcbstv.com/local/ground.zero....2.1784768.html
"According to a Quinnipiac University survey, 52 percent of New Yorkers said they are against the proposal, while 31 said they support the idea"

Re: Kill the Ground Zero Mosque TV Ad
My bad on the distance.
But I still fail to see how this is a "slap in the face"... Unless it is equated that Muslim/Islam=terrorist, which isn't the case at all.
And as was mentioned by Rawr, as well as others the last time we spoke of this subject, the Cordoba House went to the local Community Board and received overwhelming approval...
Considering the fact that the people trying to build this place aren't extremists and are red blooded Americans, how is this a slap in the face? Americans aren't the only ones targeted and killed by extremist Muslims. Moderate Muslims, I would say, have suffered far more casualties than Americans at the hands of extremists.
