NAACP to Investigate Racism within its own Organization/Members (how cute)
Hmm - so the Tea Party isn't alone huh? You mean to say that there are unsavory elements in every group? Including your own? Shocking.

NAACP Plans To Investigate Its Own
Organization Agrees With Sherrod Resignation, Will Investigate 'Disturbing' Reactions Of Audience, NAACP Officials
By MARK RODRIGUEZ, WCBSTV.com Producer
Last Tuesday, the NAACP passed a resolution condemning racism in the Tea Party movement. The organization's delegates called on Tea Party leaders to "repudiate those in their ranks who use racist language in their signs and speeches."
Tea Party members and supporters saw the resolution as a condemnation of the group itself, which calls for fiscal responsibility, restrictions on governmental power, and backs political candidates who claim the same.
...
On Monday, Breitbart posted a video of a speech by Shirley Sherrod, USDA Rural Development Georgia State Director, delivered at the NAACP's 20th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet. The video shows Sherrod speaking of racial considerations being a factor for how much help she would give.
Sherrod tendered her resignation Monday.

Everybody is prone to look out for their own. Doesn't mean it is right or that it always happens...Honestly..."Colored People" have advanced all the way to the highest office in the land. There are laws against racism and racist practices, why do we need an NAACP any more?
Regardless of the long term future of the group, racism sucks.

Guess what came out on Tuesday? The unedited video that proved Breit Bart completely false. Not only that but the White farmers mentioned in the story have stood on Sherrod's side of the story. The story overall is about how at first she saw it as a racial thing, but soon learned that isn't about race, it is about helping the people that need it (basically. And she did end up helping them save the farm etc.).

This is one of the reasons I stopped watching the news for the most part. Doesn't matter what station it is, they're all trying to make people angry or fearful. It's no way to live, or at least that's the way I see it.

Red_Lizard - you are right about that - there have been new points brought up in this particular case, I agree.
Couple things though:
1. She did admit to allowing race to factor into her judgement and official capacity. That is not right and was not right.
2. She admitted to not doing, for the farmer in question, as much as she could have, largely based on Race.
3. I understand, and am glad, that she had an epiphany at some point in her career. Though, unless I simply missed it, there is no real telling when that occurred, or hoa many other people were subject to the same race "filter" that she applied.
4. In my opinion, she was forced to resign at the behest or urging of the NAACP. Mainly as a result of Knee-Jerk reactions to allegations of racism within their organization. Strange and weird issues arise when an organization reacts without thinking.
I heard this morning on the radio, that the Dept of Agriculture is planning to reevaluate the decision on her resignation.

Here's what I find funny...I saw this covered on CNN, Fox, MSNBC, ABC, CBS etc.
This morning when the pundits were talking about the fact that "cable news outlets" took the video out of context all they showed was Fox. Hilarious.
