I think your confussed as to who has the reading comprehension problem. It's either that or you skimmed the thread and now think you know what everyone said. I made a general comment about people always wanting to blame someone for every issue and somehow you turned it into me saying your blaming someone. Reading comprehension?
No, I was in this thread from the beginning. I know what we have been discussing. I was trying to explain with historical evidence why we see the disparity. I wasn't ever laying blame at anyone's feet, but to deny that the treatment of blacks by whites years ago doesn't have an effect on some of the things we see today is nothing but pure ignorance. You cannot deny history and pretend like nothing happened in the past that could account for this disparity.

When you quote ME, that means you're talking to ME. That's why I respond like you are talking to me.

I did not say that i felt they dont swim because they dont want to learn. I said all the black guys i know gave the reasons i stated. So i guess im gonna go with what the black guy tells me over some young white kid. Call me crazy but for some reason it makes sense to go that route. I guess that would all fall under reading comprehension as well huh.
Oh, now you're using the, "well, I know a black guy" argument? Like a spin off of like the "I'm not a racist, I have a black friend" excuse? Look, I'm not arguing through emotion here. I have provided detailed arguments supported by historical fact to back up my argument. Your counterargument is "I know a black guy," as if one black guy can tell you the complex sociological reasons why more blacks can't swim than whites percentage-wise. This why I'm getting fed up with this. It's like trying to argue quantum physics with a kindergartner.

I know we should blame england or how about that fucker driving the boat on the way here? This is just stupid. If people want to learn to swim they will if they dont guess what they wont. That is simple and yes it is that easy. You can try to blame whatever you want but in reality your taking a stab in the dark with your best guess of which means shit in reality.
That's not how comparing statistics works. Actual numbers don't mean anything when you studying and comparing differences between groups. If everything was equal, the rates at which those who can't swim between races would be nearly identical. Yes, if individuals of any race want to learn nowadays, they can, but that does not explain why a majority of minorities are bad swimmers. It's not about blaming, it's about understanding, and you clearly don't care to understand.

This is where that reading comprehension thing comes into play that you keep talking about.

This what i wrote and even seperated into a different paragraph. Of which seperated what i was talking about to you.

"Why does everyone insist on trying to place blame for everything? Exspecially when the item doesnt mean anything sometimes it is as simple as shit happens. Some people just want to do things other people dont want to do. If it was a racial thing then it would be more then a 60% issue within a race."

Do you see anywhere in there where i said you?

Oh, now you're using the, "well, I know a black guy" argument? Like a spin off of like the "I'm not a racist, I have a black friend" excuse? Look, I'm not arguing through emotion here. LOL i love the fact that you go around talking about reading comprehension to everyone and just ignore it yourself. This is what was said in the thread that you responded to.

"Every black guy i have ever asked has had 1 of 3 answers didnt have a pool, didnt care to learn, and dont need to know how. Everyone of those guys just go to the beach, wet n wild, typhoon lagoon, and blizzard beach for one reason and it aint for swimming. It does however have something to do with bikinis."

So yeah your right is like trying to argue quantum physics with a kindergartner. If your not argueing with emotion then how are missing everything that is said?

Let me know when you have lived in as many places as i have. While your at it let me know when some of the schools you attended were 80% black like some of the ones i went to. Actual numbers speak for themselves. Your trying to interject your opinion into the equation with 0 first hand exsperience. I have full understanding of why they dont want to learn how to swim. They dont care about it. They spend their time learning things that they care about knowing. Its not as deep as your trying to imply it is.

I would be included in that "everyone," right? So yes, you were talking about me.

And I'll say it again, asking some random black person why he doesn't swim doesn't mean a damn thing. What do you expect an individual to say? I mean, you just don't get it. This isn't about individuals, for the hundredth time. Again, this isn't about individuals. Once more, since you haven't got it yet: This isn't about individuals. Got it? This is about society at large and attempting to explain WHY we see the disparity we do. Asking individual black people why they don't swim won't get you that answer. Do you really expect individuals to be able to quantify why there is a general disparity?

Yep, definitely the "I know a black guy" argument. I don't give a shit where you lived, who you know, or where you went to school. All of that is irrelevant and proves YOU are the one arguing from emotion and displaying your hilariously limited understanding of sociology. You have yet to try and explain how my assertion that lack of equal access to swimming facilities and racism meant at keeping blacks out of pools in the recent past, socioeconomic status, and the inevitable viewing of swimming as a "white" activity has major roles in the disparity we see today is wrong. And no, saying "I talked to a black guy once" is not a valid rebuttal.

Numbers don't matter, only percentages do.

So you are saying that the majority of african americans that cannot swim simply choose not to learn? If you are at the age you are today and you couldn't swim and you didn't quite know what all the hype is about swimming since you've never experience it before, what would compel you to up and decide "hey, I think I'm going to go learn how to swim today!"

So all in all in, I'm gathering that we should create a federal agency to go door to door and have federal agents take all blacks/minorities to the nearest pool (at the taxpayer's expense), and stay there til they learn to swim. After all, learning to swim is a right, not a privilege...............Awe shit, let's just stick it in the healthcare bill while we're at it, we gotta be fair.......

    [/sarcastic rant]
