Now? At least as many as Israel. Originally, over 4000 personnel were committed. I don't care if Israel is full of cowards or not, why would that ever be an issue? As you said, they were too busy to be our allies in our most recent conflict with the terrorists, so how, exactly, are they our #1 super best friend? Even if that were the case, why do we have to bribe them? We don't bribe England, and they actually are an ally of ours.

3750.
How many does Israel have?

In fact after looking through the list of donor countries, it looks like Israel didn't ante (annie, it wasn't a joke, you just can't spell correctly) up shit. We didn't need lots of those countries on that list but they stepped up. Not Israel though, fucking cowards.

Re: Congress halts aid to Lebanese army
I think it is funny that we've seen a thread go from halting payment to the Lebanese Army, to discussing who sent how many troops (or didn't), to saying Israel is cowardly because they didn't send any. Is that the bar for cowardly? How many other countries didn't send any? Are they also cowardly?
I think de-funding the Lebanese Army is a good thing (though I am also in favor of de-funding a lot of other things as well take your pick)...but I think it very silly to call an entire country cowardly for not sending troops to Iraq/Afganistan. Israel was hardly the only country to abstain.
Also of note; comments from President Obama (prior to his nomination/election):
http://usliberals.about.com/od/extra...bamaIsrael.htm
Just six months after I visited, Hezbollah launched four thousand rocket attacks just like the one that destroyed the home in Kiryat Shmona, and kidnapped Israeli service members. And we pray for all of the service members who have been kidnapped: Gilad Shalit, Eldad Regev, and Ehud Goldwasser, and I met with his family this week. I offered to help in any way I can.
It is important to remember this history—that Israel had unilaterally withdrawn from Lebanon only to have Iran supply Hezbollah with thousands of rockets.
Our job is to never forget that the threat of violence is real.
Our job is to renew the United States’ efforts to help Israel achieve peace with its neighbors while remaining vigilant against those who do not share this vision.
That effort begins with a clear and strong commitment to the security of Israel: our strongest ally in the region and its only established democracy. That will always be my starting point.
In the 21st century, it is unacceptable that a member state of the United Nations would openly call for the elimination of another member state. But that is exactly what he has done.
Neither Israel nor the United States has the luxury of dismissing these outrages as mere rhetoric.
At the same time, we must preserve our total commitment to our unique defense relationship with Israel by fully funding military assistance and continuing work on the Arrow and related missile defense programs.
This would help Israel maintain its military edge and deter and repel attacks from as far as Tehran and as close as Gaza.
Opps - forgot I am not supposed to agree with Obama cause I am blind conservative. Darn it. Yall make me laugh.Last edited by Alundil; 08-11-10 at 02:00 PM.
