Re: Tax Increase Exemption Cards available. Get yours!
What lie? He has created new taxes that effect those under 250k. So how is there a lie about what he has done? If he allows a bill that keeps people paying less taxes to exspire and the end result is those under 250k paying more in taxes then the only lie i see is Obamas. I mean hes a politician so we should be use to that by now but hey what do i know.

How did Obama create new federal income taxes?
As far as allowing the tax cuts to expire as Bush intended, that would require him to do nothing. So if he's doing nothing, how is he raising taxes?Last edited by triggerhappy2005; 09-04-10 at 12:01 PM. Reason: Edited to clarify federal income taxes...those promised not to be raised for people earning less than 250k per year

By doing nothing is how he would be KNOWINGLY raising taxes on those under 250k. I forget sometimes you dont live here. Cigarette tax would be one. I also enjoyed his crusade against flavored cigarettes but backed away from menthals because he knew he would get fucked up. Yet i see cigars are uneffected.

Yeah dont think i wasnt paying attention. I have 3 crutches cigarettes, soda, and gaming. I dont drink, gamble, or do drugs so when hes talking about increasing taxes to the only things i do to relax i pay attention. The last he wants if for me to not be able to have my soda and cigarette in the morning people could end up getting hurt that way.

He never once said he wouldn't raise taxes on such things. He clearly stated he wouldn't raise federal income taxes on those making less than 250k per year.
Here's a list of cigarette tax increases since 2000: http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/cig_inc02.html
They get raised by both democrats and republicans.
Btw, the single smartest thing you could do is quit smoking. I mean that. There's nothing cool about it.

The president has no power over tax cut expirations. That's the fault of your Congress-critters for not passing a new tax cut bill. But oh wait! They *are* submitting a new tax cut bill - mostly affecting SMB owners. Which whether you are conservative or liberal should understand makes up the majority of GDP and employment in this country. The new "stimulus" involves cutting payroll taxes by 25% across the board for SMB owners, including their self-employment tax. Also some Democrats want to vote to extend middle-class tax cuts. However, Republicans keep wanting to chase after more tax cuts for the 250K+* people, and in addition because the republicans want to maximize their chances of pwning congress in November elections, they will most likely try to stall this bill, THEN blame it on Obama as well as making the economy worse so they can get more votes for change.
*Seriously though, most of us here aren't going to see that amount of gross income in our lifetimes. It's several times over the median middle-class income paygrade necessary to keep reasonable debt, own a house, 2 cars, and 2 kids. And I think it's morally wrong if you're an SMB owner taking that much money as personal income while paying people minimum wage to put up drywall, nail shingles, run a cash register, or wait tables in your establishment, but that's just me.Last edited by [CoFR]SirMoo; 09-04-10 at 12:16 PM.
