On a side note, check out the rally at the end of this clip. I hope Central park doesn't end up like this 10 years from now.
I agree it would have but its not like he got arrested. All that happened was his toys were taken away.

Re: Does burning the Quran endanger U.S. troops?

if that guy wanted to burn the Quran, let him. Is in sensitive...yea, but does he have the right to do so....yes as well.

we dont see the local or national new networks going crazy that dirkastanieban burns our country's flag in protest.

we say that guy is an asshole and check out the baseball game on the next channel.

if following the peaceful teachings of islam teaches you try to be better person then it shouldnt affect you, but the current sections of muslims who believe the only way to get thier point across is with potientially violent protest, bombs and terroristic threats.

thats who you look at for.

just like right we people within our nation that potientially need to have their head examined because of stupid things they do or come out their mouths.

Taking his toys away was the act that is the problem. The cop was out of line to do so. By preventing him from burning it, the cop deprived him of his constitutionally protected freedom of speech under the false pretext of concern for public safety.

If they were in fact turned down for a burn permit then his rights were not violated. If they weren't looking for all the attention then they could have applied for another permit in a more appropriate place and burned all they wanted. My guess and i dont know all the facts here is that where they wanted to do it was going to be basically in a business district so to speak and they dont allow that kind of stuff for anyone including these clowns. Let me know when they have a burn permit and the cops take their toys away. Then i will be one of the people screaming foul.

Fair enough although I disagree on the semantics.

The police should not have prevented him from burning it. I am certain that the excuse of a fire code will be used, but the underlying reason isn't fire codes.

If we as a country want to outlaw destruction of symbolic items, specifically the American flag, then cool, prevent him from doing it. Until that point, I see this as disparity of freedom of speech based on fear of muslims and political correctness.

From my point of view, burning or destroying the symbols that others find important is on par with the talibans destruction of the Buddha statues, straight up ignorant. But uneven application of the rules is worse.
Haha like the American Communist League Union... sorry Civil Liberties... would defend him? They have their own agenda and only defend what is in their interests.

Regarding Ann Coulter, not everything she says is whacked out. Be an informed person by listening to what the opposition says and then researching it before making assumptions. Just because someone opposes your viewpoint doesn't make their opinion any less valid =P.

I don't support Islam, but I do think that burning the Quran is going a bit far in terms of a reaction to 9/11. There are other ways to oppose Islam than by burning the Quran. While the Muslims may commit the same atrocities that they become sensitive about when the ire is turned back on them, retaliation is not in the Christian faith (Matthew 5:38-42, Luke 6:27-31). I do believe that the "fragile" Muslims can be swayed by a small Church burning the Quran in another country and thus can endanger our troops, but they're being a bit hypocritical about it.

Looks like the guy in NJ who actually burned it was fired from his job at the NJ Transit office.

But, but, but, but........... I thought all of the ire wasn't aimed at "Islam" and all of it's followers, but towards the extremists instead.

At least someone is open and honest, and is taking aim at the whole swath instead of the culprits.

Yeah, like that pinko liberal Rush Limbaugh. How can you put your name (or pseudonym, even) on such verbal diarrhea? Do you have any self-respect?

    I don't support Islam,
What do you mean "support Islam?" As in, you don't financially support the religion? Don't support its right to exist?
