Does burning the Quran endanger U.S. troops?

Well according to Gen. Petraeus, the Dove World Outreach Center's plan to burn the Quran will endanger U.S. troops. I could see how this would be detrimental towards the battle of hearts and minds of those we're trying to force democracy on.

What say ye?

I could see it causing a problem, for the extremists it is something they can use to say "See, the west hates you!" Again my opinion though, as I have less knowledge of the area and tactics then the General would.

I think yeah it hurts people's point of view about american's because if that person grew up reading the quran not to promote violence but to promote they're faith in there god and in the world... The person who is burning the book might have read to much into the book and what it really stands for......Taliban has always had a deep hatred for other religions and countries... The reason 9/11 happen isn't because of a book its the person who is holding the book and reading it... A person who reads to deeply in religious books will act out for no reason....and become dangerous not only to himself but to everyone around them... This will hurt this operation to help promote democracy and give Afghans a better life other than giving up there lives to the al queda or taliban....and will endanger more American Soldier lives

It does endanger US troops. I don't have any question that our guys and gals in uniform will suffer as a result of this. It will get both the violent and moderate sects of Islam all pissed off and ready to battle.

It is constitutionally protected free speech though, and is not any different than the burning of the American flag, the elephant dung Jesus, and the virgin Mary submersed in Urine.

I think our troops are already in danger...buring the book is not going to make them more angry at us....I think they are maxed out....

The act itself no more endangers troops than it endangers my house from catching on fire as a result of the flames...

The international media coverage of a 40-ember lunatic fringe church in po-dunk, Florida is the source of the danger. Giving these tools a platform and major media coverage is a ridiculous programming decision.
