    Destruction of San Bruno

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...BJRS.DTL&tsp=1
With a thunderous roar heard for miles, a natural gas line exploded in San Bruno shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, sending up a geyser of fire, critically burning residents and igniting a blaze that gobbled up more than a dozen houses in a residential neighborhood.

The wind-whipped blaze jumped from structure to structure in the area near Skyline Boulevard and Sneath Lane, west of Interstate 280, raging unabated for nearly an hour as emergency crews rushed in, residents cleared out in all directions and ambulance sirens filled the air...
A little of a sensationalized headline, but what else do you expect from me? :P Amazingly (according to the news here) only 1 person has died so far. Feel bad for the people that live there, can't imagine how hard it must be to deal with, especially with (what it sounds like) the firefighters so far unable to get it anywhere near under control :/.

This shit was around 20 miles from my house, I actually saw the flames while driving home.

My heart goes out to those who lost their homes and loved ones.

I was kitesurfing by the San Mateo Bridge... about 10 miles directly downwind of the explosion when it happened. I did not see or hear the explosion, but I did see and smell the smoke. My fiancee forecasts weather for SFO and she was surprised I didn't see the fireball.

Death toll up to 7 now... also 6 "missing." Scary stuff, really...

Place looks like a warzone. Death count will probably go up once they can actually get dogs in there, last i heard it was still too hot to search for life.
