Idea to ease unemployment
After reading about congress passing a law that adjusts the volume during some TV commercials, I couldn't help but notice that many were angry at a perceived lack of action in more important matters such as unemployment.
So here's a chance to express ideas that YOU feel would help lower the unemployment rate. Please offer actual ideas and not just bash one party or the other. If you don't have an idea, please only post intelligent counter arguments to any ideas given.
I'll start. Enact punitive tariffs on any country that has a minimum wage lower than in the US. In fact you could take it one step further and institute minimum wages depending on the job sector. Farm hand, textile worker, call center agent, programmer etc.

or an extension off this, we could force USA based companies to employee only US citizens (in other words, force them to stop out sourcing over seas). Though would have to make a few laws to prevent exploit of "claiming" your company was based somewhere other than the US.
edit: clarification

Well even in regard to probation, it really wouldnt offer many jobs to the currently unemployeed. As not many live in a location where growing these products would be viable.

My feelings would be to enact tariffs on companies moving job overseas and end NAFTA. Could also put higher tariffs on products shipped from countries of factories that abuse the lack of local labor laws (i.e. factories in mexico working women 16+ hours a day, for like 2 dollars an hour)
