Re: Local Texas Banks refund overdraft fees
I have always thought that the fee's where too high but also think bouncing a check is retarded. I am certainly against the gubment stepping in and protecting irresponsibility.
Choose a fucking bank with lower fees or better policies or better yet learn to do fucking simple math. The matter will work itself out.

Re: Local Texas Banks refund overdraft fees
You have "x" amount of money in the bank, and you spend more than "x" via checks/debit card/________. The bank is now picking up your tab, and they CLEARLY tell you that you will be charged a fee if you spend more money than you have in your bank account.....how difficult is that to understand?
The amount charged is almost irrelevant. Don't spend more than you have and you won't even have to worry about any overdraft fees. Same applies to people bitching credit card interest rates are too high....well then don't spend more than you can pay off at the end of the month, then get mad when they charge you interest on money YOU borrowed from THEM.

Re: Local Texas Banks refund overdraft fees
The repercussion of this will be that the check is accepted less. Banks will go back to returning them to the merchant. Debit cards will no longer work when the cash is not there. All seem fair to me but will not seem so fair to the ones fucking up all the time.

Re: Local Texas Banks refund overdraft fees
Most modern POS systems they query the account balance before running the transaction and reject the card if there isn't enough money. The same like if you try to put something on your credit card and it rejects it because you are over your limit.
Besides, checks are so 20th century. :PLast edited by Arreo; 10-13-10 at 04:57 PM.
