I agree with Toker, to believe that we are alone in the Universe is close minded. But to believe what other people claim they thought they saw is naive.

And really, if the air-force in the past would scramble jets and they couldn't stay with the UFOs in the past, why bother now when they still can't? The only thing that could possibly happen, if anything at all, is that some body ends up pissing off whoever or whatever is flying those things. And I don't think we want THAT.

I have read some reports on UFOs going to air bases and Nuclear Missile silos and they would throw some rays down into the nuclear devices and completely disarm them. When the commanders would be informed (and watching it happen) they would say "Let them, don't bother them". No scrambles or anything of the such.

'Course, I don't have credible sources on such things, just eyewitness reports and such.
