Want sad? heard a story of someone managing to bring a switchblade on a plane because TSA wasn't paying attention to what was in their bag.
They don't act, they react. how many policies have been made that are protecting from future threat, and not just from something that happened before?
Further, are you saying that you have no problem with the fact I can bring 60oz of liquid onto a plane, so long as they are in individual 3.4oz containers? Or can just bring a bottle marked Saline and say its for contacts? Or bring a spare laptop battery which is just as dangerous, if not more, then the liquids? And if we are so quick to act (not react) then why are our subways still insecure, or our busses. Hell I'd be amazed if our "protectors" have been smart enough to even secure infrastructure or chemical plants etc.
Further our Intelligence community was the ones to hard-headed to work together, which would of likely prevented 9/11 (then blamed the reason it happened on too much liberty). Or how about the Christmas Day bomber? Did they do their job on that one?

The TSA, who created a no-fly zone for small general aviation aircraft over downtown DC, but still allow airliners into Reagan National Airport, literally less than 5 seconds flight time from the White House or the Capitol. The small GA airplanes that have never caused any major damage, or the airliners which brought down two massive towers in DC? Yeah, let's believe everything they do is for our safety.
