Sand people have long been termed desert dwellers in that region for centuries, so don't try and make it racial, it was not intended to be perceived that way and he clarified that.

Haha, so if you can draw some line of reasoning for the formation of a racial slur, it's not a racial slur anymore? Alright buddy.

An old TTPer who was banned and is now back waiting to be unbanned. I guess he found the OTS and Drama Forum to kill his time while he waits.

Thanks Hub, I see that his penchant for walls of text isn't limited to this forum.

Commander it is still a slur. Because people are of a certain geographic area doesn't mean the intention behind the saying isn't hurtful. I could use the same distinction about a person who lives in the swamps of Louisiana calling them swamp people. Yes they are from the swamp but the use of the name is meant to demean them.

    The topic of Religion

While I can follow the brief amount of Chrono's wall of text while I am sitting here in class (btw the course is called Ethics in the Abrahamic Traditions) I am amazed at his world view. If he is truly Jewish he is one of a breed I've not encountered in my expanse of learning. The Tanakh, the "Old Testament" and large portions of the Qu'ran are infact if not word for word the same similar.

Christians take heavily from the Hebrew Scriptures and Muslims dip into both preceding traditions. Muslims believe in Ibrahm aka Abraham as well as Isa aka Jesus. Muslims however are not sons of Issac but Ishmael. Pretty interesting how they diverge. But anyhow, the VAST majority of religious scholars from all three of the traditions accept that they share a great deal of things in common including loads of scriptural works.

Chrono, where did you learn all of your knowledge and insight into your scriptures? I am curious. Was it at a specific school? A certain Rabbi? Online, if so what site?

To me as a religious scholar I am disheartened by your hostilities. Lashing out at Cojiro for being Californian, how do you know he wasn't raised in Turkey as a Christian and his family left for the United States? But please tell me where you've learned all this.

I'm pretty sure that this type extremist view is only encountered on the internet.

How would you know that? Who made you the definitive authority on what other people may or may not be thinking? You don't know what Chrono's intentions were when he used that phrase, so don't tell others how they should view it.

I'm going to also add here, that a lot of what Chrono is talking about is somethings that Americans do not have the best background knowledge of. Not that everyone is ignorant but many just do not know.

He mentions in his first wall of text the history of MODERN Israel. How it got a shit end of the stick in WW2 with the Nazis, Arab persecution prior to the founding of Israel after WWII. These things are hard for many Americans to comprehend because well it doesn't concern us so we either don't care, don't know or think we know. The whole Middle East region is something that the "west" carved up. There are boarders where we thought they should go with in most cases NO input from the inhabitants of the region. For example Afghanistan/Pakistani boarder, there are tribes of nomads that live there in the mountains that do not acknowledge our lines and claim land to themselves from both countries because they had lived there for centuries w/o our interference.

That is where today's conflicts are in Israel. There are Arab Muslims and then both Arab and non-Arab Jews that hold claim to the so called Promised Land. I guess the closest thing that we Americans can see here is Manifest Destiny and even that is a perversion of it. We claimed all land East to West but there were still Native people living there. Well depending on how far back you go you have your natives. The Jews lived there turn of the Roman empire, then the Muslims came circa the 10th and 11th centuries. Crusades and Holy wars back and forth. All three of the Abrahamic traditions hold some form of claim to the region.
