Where does it end? TSA to grant everyone a rub down
TSA Changes Pat-Down Procedure at Airports - ABC News
Starting Friday, the TSA is changing its pat-down procedure. TSA officers used to pat down passengers with the backs of their hands, but now they'll use the fronts of their hands to search more than ever before, in some cases touching body parts that once were off limits.
Seriously though - how much is too much? We've had several posts in the last few days about the absurdity of the security checks going on at the airports. It's obvious that security at airports is "doing it's stated job" to keep passengers safe. However I also believe that the relative safety we've seen is more to do with the lack of attempts than with additional security being the determining factor.
We've also seen that, from a logical standpoint, the security restrictions and allowances are silly at best and serve no real purpose other than to discourage people that weren't even going to try anything in the first place (point being that some determined to get on board a plane will, and likely with whatever they desire to carry on with them.
It's enough already....

Re: Where does it end? TSA to grant everyone a rub down
To add to this - would you put up with a cab/bus driver groping your wife before allowing her into the vehicle? Would you allow a night club/bar bouncer to do that? How about the concierge at the swanky hotel?
To think that the government can impose, and apparently get away with this, is saddening really. Nothing of substance gets done. No one stands up and says, common sense MUST be in the equation somewhere. I mean seriously - if someone where to create a perfectly sealed and sanitized container filled with 3oz of a deadly substance would have groped 1/3 of the passengers make a difference? Would seeing that same person naked in the scanner (oh and by the way saving that image that you promised would never be saved) while their carry on with the deadly vial goes down the conveyor belt make one iota of difference? The anser is now - it would not. The passenger, naked images and nutsack squeezed, would get on the plane as easily as anyone else.....with his deadly carry o package tucked safely inside and go his dastardly way with no one the wiser until it was all too late.
Net result? People still die, or not, TSA just gets to "cop a feel"
All of these places/venues/things are vulnerable to the same types of threat exposure. Just ask the hoteliers in Mumbai,Jakarta, Iraq, Afganistan, Brighton or any number of other places in the last 20-30 years to have suffer a major bombing.
I, for one, won't be flying anywhere anytime soon.

Re: Where does it end? TSA to grant everyone a rub down
I've got like 50 segments this year with 3 more trips scheduled this month and this doesnt bug me.
Ive been late, I've been early, I've been upgraded to first class, I've been forced to sit in a broken seat next to a 300 pounder, but know what hasn't happened?
I havent been blown up by a terrorist. I could care less what the Gov't does to declare passengers safe, as long as it keeps the nuts with the bombs off my planes and I get home to my family safe, I'm OK with it.
I especially like the back-scatter scanner things. Those things are sweet.

Re: Where does it end? TSA to grant everyone a rub down
So Con - how often did a nut with a Bomb blow up a plane prior to the TSA being able to scan (and save for self gratification....err I mean posterity....err I mean not save) people without their clothing? Is TSA groping you or your wife going to make you safer? The plane safer? Or is that a step way past the line of necessity?
Seriously - I like getting home safe just as much as the next guy. But this? It is beyond the pale. And the American public (and based on the responses of several international countries/organizations and companies from the last couple of days) is gladly bending over and taking it. No lube, no kiss, just getting fucked. This new change allowing TSA "Agents" to effectively grope a random sampling of passengers and all others who don't feel like posing for "Playboy/girl Napolitano" magazine is utter crap.
See host of comments on this very forum of people explaining what exactly could be stored in a sealed 3.0oz to 3.5oz container and brought on board a plane. Does some TSA Agent getting to "Second Base" stop anyone from bringing unknown substances on board an airplane so long as they are in a small container? No, not at all. So are you safe? Safer? Nah, not so much. The shoe thing is the same exact problem, just not as gross an invasion of someone's space/person.
