11-12-10, 10:33 AM #1Stupidity or free speech
Tweeters have joined forces to support Paul Chambers, the man convicted and fined for a Twitter message threatening to blow up an airport.
I'm honestly going to say that it was a stupid thing to tweet.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Re: Stupidity or free speech
What a dumb-ass......
The tech has nothing to do with it. If he rolled up a piece of paper in the shape of a megaphone, and threatened to blow up an airport, the same thing would have happened. He was just able to reach more people, and do it from a greater distance with Twatter.
Freedom of Speech does not protect you when yelling "FIRE" in a crowded building......or when you are threatening to blow up an airport...no matter the vehicle that is used to broadcast the stupidity.

Re: Stupidity or free speech
Why?
Was what he said stupid? Sure, but it dosen't warrant a 1000 pound fine and him getting fired from his job. He had zero intention or capability of carrying out his 'threat'.
How many times have you said stupid shit to your friends about how "the DMV is so fucking slow and it should just burn to the ground" or somethign similar. Just because it was over the internet it's suddenly a terroristic threat?

Funnily, this wasn't really in the news. We were all much more concerned with this dumbass.
Also, apparently the bomb threat guy got his appeal overturned. Rather ludicrous. Although, tbh, people who use twitter have a special place in hell reserved for them. I don't need to know what's happening every 5 minutes in someone's life, or when they take a dump.Last edited by AxisofLint; 11-14-10 at 11:25 AM.
