Egypt deploys troops along Gaza border

With Israeli permission, Egypt sets up troops to avoid infiltrations by terrorists, Hamas across Gazan border.

Egyptian security forces beefed up their presence along the border with the Gaza Strip on Sunday in a bid to stop Hamas operatives from crossing between the two countries amid concerns that terror groups will take advantage of the anarchy in Egypt to launch attacks against that country and Israel.

Israeli defense officials said the troop increase was undertaken in coordination with the Defense Ministry because, under the peace treaty between the countries, Egypt is not allowed to deploy large numbers of soldiers along its border with Israel.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak spoke with US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates on Sunday to discuss the situation.

Egypt is trying to stop terrorist from crossing the boarder. Seems that the terrorist are trying to hop on the destruction wagon and destroy what they can, taking advantage of the unrest that is already going on. I hope they get crushed. I would like to see Israel give them permission to cross the border and go in there and really put the whoop down on them.

I think it may partially be to stop terrorists coming in, but I bet that the Egyptian government is afraid their military may side with the protesters. They want to keep them busy. Idle hands make idle minds as they say.

It is to keep the terrorist from coming in.... They have lots of problems with them on the border as well, including those weapon/people smuggling tunnels.

I don't think you have to worry about the Egyptian military siding with some terrorist/protesters.

They just opened up Heavy Machine Gun fire on the protesters.

I agree with White, this seems to be more of a way to buy them time, or a distraction in my opinion.

They are not only calling for the resignation of the president, but are now calling for the Execution.

Trying to buy who time ? ? ? ? What do you mean by a distraction ? ? ? You try and cross that boarder, you will get your ass shot, plain and simple. The terrorist are destroying cities now, setting everything on fire. It's down to business now.

Well, I actually don't know too much about this issue, but my first impression is this is just a distraction on his part. Like I said, I haven't really looked into this issue, but when I get home I'll be sure to do further research on it, and get my final opinion out to you guys.

Of course the current administration need to worry about this. There are several historical cases of militaries or police siding with the people against corrupt governments.

Since when do protesters kill ( 138 ) dead so far, and attack with guns, steel pipes, petro bombs, rocks, knives, rpg's and bombs?

When shit goes bad. You have to change your view on protesters. You're stuck on the mainly Western view of protesters where it's mainly peaceful. It's not so in other parts of the world.
