That's a pretty poor argument for religion. So religion becomes more attractive when people are frightened and not thinking clearly? Wow. I'm in.

Boy as usual you need to clarify everything for everybody. That is a quote from M*A*S*H, a very funny show some of you apparently need to watch once in a while to loosen up. I was hoping to get a laugh from Slythern (someone who probably understood and hopefully got a chuckle from it) amidst a very serious issue his family is dealing with. Instead I got slammed by people who are obviously not amused by anything to do with religion - be it said in light or not. I do not want you to convert or care to read any postings or articles to back your views up .... I merely wanted to show my concern for Slythern and his wife, and I still do.

No worries. I can definitely relate to Slythern and what he is going through with his wife right now. It is a problem everyone here has been more than likely touched by.

No offense taking Bubba your one of my favs. I appreciate your input. In looking into this it looks like many have come through AA and use the higher power as whatever entity they prefer to satisfy the 2nd of 12 steps. Her sponsor is pushing her Christianity believes even though my wife explained to her she wants to keep God out of this. We appreciate the energy spent by her sponsor because not everyone would take the time. Jen (my wife) is balancing the difference in beliefs and making the best of it.
The concern is when Jen goes to a meeting she doesn't want to feel like she's going to church.

My brother feels the same way....his sponsor is excellent in his opinion -not preachy like other people at his meetings. He listens to him and tries to balance that with the meetings. Seems to be working for him. I really don't think he is ignoring everything they say there, but he does his best to filter out what he doesn't like to hear.
