    Knives

I know that knives beyond a certain length are often banned, but why are your large cooking knives still allowed? A 6-inch cooking knife is just as dangerous as a 6-inch hunting knife.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

I may be mistaken, but I think restrictions on knives are based around transporting and carrying on your person. Kitchen knives do not fall under those categories. Hunting knives will since you must take them 'on site' with you.

If this site is accurate, in MA, hunting is covered in the same exceptions as culinary use. If you're currently practicing or travelling to practice one of these activities, you can carry a longer knife.

What state do you live in? I live in Arizona and I never heard of any knives laws.....its awesome over here. If you want to buy a gun you can, just go to the store, they make a quick phone call and 5 minutes later its yours. Also recently they made it legal to carry a concealed weapon here, you had to have a permit before, which I obtained by taking a weekend class and an afternoon at the shooting range, which was a waste of time because 6 months later they did away with the permit.

Colorado and California I know both have laws concerning the length of knife you can carry on you for day to day use.

Is it 6 inches here in Louisiana? I thought I remember it being something ridiculous like 3 inches a while back.

    Re: Knives

Any knife over a certain length (check your state laws) is illegal if you conceal it...a 12 inch chef's knife is legal in your kitchen, but if you get caught out in public with it shoved in your boot it's a concealed weapon and you're toast.
