Re: One Small Victory
Would it be wrong to say bumper stickers are gay? The only stickers you will find on my trucks is one marine corps sticker on the rear window of each and my car has a marine corps sticker along with the stickers for the mods done to it also all on the rear window. I have to take those off and repaint the car because i cant get anyone to race me anymore. Where a 10 second honda when you need one.

Re: One Small Victory
Sorry, my mistake.
I think what happened was that I read the first post (which was about Facebook), and then I read the second post in which you mentioned a right-wing tilt (which seemed like a non-sequitur to me, but I didn't respond), and then I read the third post (which seemed non-committal), and then I read the fourth post (where deathgod lol'd your right-wing comment), and then I read the fifth post, and then I read the sixth post where you talk about homosexuality as a political issue, and then I responded.
You're the one who put "Facebook" and "right-wing tilt" in a sentence, you're the one who first brought up homosexuality, I'm the one who is totally not getting it.
Seriously. What's going on?

Well, I'm not talking about fighting anything. I was a little surprised that facebook, which was originally designed for and by young, educated people, wouldn't have a more progressive view (this was before it was pointed out that the status "married" could be applied to same-sex marriages). Maybe I should have said "conservative" instead of "right-wing."

Re: One Small Victory
Ah, ok.
Maybe fighting is the wrong word. I thought what you said was accusatory, and that's sometimes the opening shot of a fight.
I don't think saying "conservative" changes anything. The implication of:
... is that their choice of options was politically motivated. I suppose that's possible (and I said so, albeit in a joking manner), but it seems much more likely to me that the political outlook of the coders way-back-when had nothing at all to do with it.
Maybe my mistake is in joining your two sentences together. I suppose it's also possible that the two were completely disconnected - that you expressed surprise at the new options, and then (as a completely separate query) wondered about the political leanings of Facebook.
Either way, it seems that you have at least a little interest in gender issues. I think that's a good thing, but my point was that your passion seems misplaced in this thread.
It's all up-side for me though. I don't care if thread-drift steers us towards gender issues (someone already brought up that Westboro asshole). Seems unlikely we'll get there now. By broad consensus, it's obvious that what most people want to talk about is bumper stickers.
