Re: Ask a Cop...
Just out of curiousity what did you expect to be the discussion going on in this thread? Quite obviously if you did not have an issue with a cop over something then their would be no question from the encounter. That only leaves poor encounters to discuss.
I've had plenty of encounters some good most bad but as heavy pointed out Florida cops blow. In fact they are the worst i have ever seen and thats saying alot for someone to have lived and traveled to as many places as i have.

Re: Ask a Cop...
I completely disagree. Most unmarked vehicles might as well have a sign on them after a couple months. Those of us that have done well above the speed limit can pick 99% of them out in traffic. I did have one get me a couple years ago but they had to break state law for that to happen. There should have never been an unmarked 84 beat up ass camaro with out of states tags running traffic in jacksonville.
I'll even tell you the most common mistakes they make when ordering an unmarked vehicle. Stop getting the cheap ass rims, stop blacking out the windows, and for god sakes stop putting that stupid little antenna on it. Personally i never run even though i could easily out run them in my car. If im doing 90 and i pass one wether its marked or unmarked, moving or sitting on the side if the lights come on most time i just pull over before he gets anywhere near me. Makes it easy and i never argue with one when i know i have been fucking around. If i haven't done anything he's in for a bad time on that stop.
I will also agree as you get older you really do stop driving as fast. Use to be nothing for me to drive to daytona or fort lauderdale at 120 but now its more like 80 85. Not that getting pulled over or tickets scare me what so ever i just dont care any more. I'll get there when i get there.

MeBad, learn Spanish and maybe take some medical classes, CPR, first aid, etc. if nothing else they look good and show that you are willing to be educated and you care enough to do a better job. Also, I'm not sure what state you're from but I was nearly hired by the Fish and Wildlife Dept. here in KY and we had to swim and tread water as part of the physical and that's where we lost people. I've seen it as a standard at states' departments so you might want to check and then make sure you can do it.
Kraker, did you attend the ILEA and what was it like? I'm going at the end of March.
Some cops are fat because they choose not to take care of themselves, just like overweight people the world over.

It depends on the city also. Most of the new UM's here blend in very good. Especially since black steel rims are the in thing for some reason. The old ones were real easy to spot and they still had the emblems on the side when you were up close. I hate it also since the auctioned interceptors end up everywhere here. You slow down to have some guy and his girlfriend pass you.

My pistol of choice is a glock. And we are issued glocks. I have always been a glock fan, and love the way they shoot. We qualify once a year with our glocks, and M16/.223 riffles...
Game warden/Conservation Officer is a whole different animal. I would suggest studying pre law, but the degree you have now will be GREAT for that field. You will learn mostly everything you need in the academy. And yes, spanish is an excellent trait to have.
What department did you get hired on Power? Thats awesome! I recieved my Pre-basic, fire arms, defensive tactics, and a 16 week school on pre-law/criminal lawbut should be in ILEA this fall.
Gun Laws are a state issue. So what it is here, will be totally different there. Most states do require you to be 21 though. Indiana is one of the most relaxed states on gun laws, in whereis you do not need to take a class or anything to get the permit. Just not be a felon, convicted of domestic violence, and a few other pre req's...
On a personal note. I appreciate all the steam messages. I agree people. This thread was started with very good intentions, and now has been moved to a forum which totally negates the purpose. Alot of people do not check these forums, so its sad that people with honest questions now will not know about it.
Shame on you people who continually stir up shit. You really are....well...just that.

I'm doing pre-basic next week and then riding until I go to the academy. Which dept. are you with?
White, you would think that anyone can pass the standards until you get there and see how many people actually blow it. I'm not saying they are hard, they aren't, but more people fail these basic tests than most people would probably suspect.Last edited by PowerCock; 02-27-11 at 10:04 AM.

Re: Ask a Cop...
Why do police departments blame the victim? ie, shouldnt have had a tollbox in your car and it wouldnt have gotten broke into. should have had a security system, should have had a locked gate, should have security lights.
Why do police no longer come out and take a report for auto break-ins. Are they uninterested in catching the criminals?
