Manning faces new charges, possible death penalty
"Following an intensive seven-month investigation, the Army on Wednesday filed 22 additional charges against Pfc. Bradley Manning
The most serious of the new charges is "aiding the enemy," a capital offense which carries a potential death sentence.
Coombs, Manning's lawyer, has complained that his confinement conditions — in maximum custody under a “prevention of injury” watch — are unduly harsh and undermine his right to a fair trial. Manning has been confined in a 6-by-12-foot cell with a bed, a drinking fountain and a toilet for about 23 hours a day, Coombs has said.
Anti-war groups, a psychologist group as well as filmmaker Michael Moore and Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg have called for Bradley to be released from detention. Amnesty International and other human rights organizations have condemned the Obama administration's imprisonment conditions."

When are people going to figure out everything isn't a game and carry real conseqences? Another good question would be when are people going to figure out the military is not part of the civilian world?

Re: Manning faces new charges, possible death penalty
You don't. He was never charged with treason. He was originally charged with violating Article 92 and Article 134 of the UCMJ.

Re: Manning faces new charges, possible death penalty
Thats right it was discussed in here about how it should be or should not be one of the charges. Either way the charge isn't going to matter. He fucked up in a big way and you can bet he will be made an example out of. I dont think he will get the death penalty but he will never get out of prison. Death penalty would be cheaper though. So how much will the deficite affect the the out come?
