Not saying corporations and executives aren't bad, but unions aren't white knights either.
They're climbing in your Tapatalk and snatchin' your people up.

That isn't an indictment on unions as a whole, but individuals that are part of the unions.
BTW, your source is pretty laughable. "CUF" is a front that claims to focus on improving conditions for workers, but it it is more apparent that they are more concerned with growing corporate profits.....

Simple you act like unions are what keeps everything afloat and it isnt true. There are plenty of right to work states out there and millions of contractors and subcontractors. Plus there are millions more people that negotiate their rates and benefits before accepting a job offer. It was around before unions and still thrives as a way of doing business.

03-26-11, 08:45 PM #77Right, but when a corporation tries to grow it's profits it is evil, but when a union tries to grow it's profits, in the form of income and benefits, it is righteous. As I have said hundreds of times in most cases both sides would gladly screw each other to benefit themselves.

"Right to work state" does not mean that unions aren't allowed in those states. And plain and simple, unions do indeed keep wages and benefits for all workers afloat. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, union workers earn 27% more than non union workers, and are more likely to receive health care and pension benefits. Again, without unions, it would be a race to the bottom for worker's salaries and benefits. There is a reason why it is beneficial for workers to bargain collectively, otherwise why organize?
Not everybody is a contractor/subcontractor,....... lol I am trying to imagine the thirty some odd iron workers, thirty electricians, forty carpenters, ten pipe fitters and so on each individually negotiating their pay and benefits......... Then imagine the headaches for HR trying to keep track of each agreement. What is good/works for you (the contractor) isn't necessarily good/works for everybody else.

It isn't the corporation "growing" it's profits that are bad...... It is how they do so. By rolling back on agreements, blocking those that want to collectively bargain, lessening benefits, cutting corners on work safety measures....... and so on.
Unions are not for profit, they pay no dividends, and make no investments for any individuals to profit. They protect workers' rights, provide legal representation and negotiate pay and benefits with the workers' best interests.
And yes, it is righteous to fight for rights of workers.
