This has been bouncing around my head for a few days now.

Just how exactly it this the "land of the free"

I mean, you use to be able to own a pet cheetah.
Once it wasn't a crime to ride in the back of a pick-up.
What the hell do you mean I can't buy beer on Sundays?
I can't have a camp fire in my back yard why?
Hell, I remeber being one the first people to have a jet ski in Westerly, there was no can't launch here, can't go over 20 there. Hell we use to dig out a pit and cook up hamburgers right there in the sand and relax all day.
Can't put of a shack in the yard because they found some arrowheads, jeeze you mean native americans use to live around here, uh never would have known.
Nope, can't sell coffee and soup out of your dorm, hell you can't sell lemonade at the end of your driveway.

And all the other things that come up here.

I get the Law v. Social arguement, back when trigger was screaming to legalize it all.

We are an (over)reactionary society. In some cases that is good, but in many it gets dumb. Someone pokes your eye out with a stick, well we can't have that, so no more playing with sticks. Many stupid laws exist to protect us from ourselves, whether we need them or not.

I know I yearn for the days of riding in the back of my dad's pick-up, with my pet cheetah to go pick up beer on Sunday. Because a backyard bonfire after launching my superfast jet-ski is nothing without beer. I truly felt like a badass when I would go to the shack in my backyard and drag out my portable lemonade stand, and sell soup and coffee to the bonfire partygoers.
