Although I was clarifying that he was actually saying that he pays the top rate. Whereas my speculation is that an electrician, a deputy sheriff and a self employed flooring contractor aren't paying the top rate. It was in response to kraker's and dex's remarks that he is bragging, when he was giving first hand insight on being in the top bracket.

So was my speculation incorrect?

Up to 2 years ago i made between 180 and 205. So technically your assumption was not incorrect.

Ok maybe we should come to an agreement on a year to use number from first because i feel using a current number would give an inacurate example of this nation.

I disagree. I pay taxes in a recession just like I pay them in a booming economy, but you pick any year you like, as long as the data's there.

Yeah but there would be an additional 40 to 50 million people also paying taxes that would normally if they weren't out of work.

I can't find the amount of tax collected in 2004. Death, if you can get the data for another year, I'll be happy to re-crunch the numbers. So far, 2004's numbers don't look like they'll be significantly different, unless the amount collected was much, much lower.
