DADT issue again.
Robert Gates On DADT: No Opt-Out For Opponents Of Gays In The Military
"Defense Secretary Robert Gates bluntly told Marines on Sunday that they won't be able to opt out of their enlistment just because they disagree with a government decision to end a ban on gays serving openly in the military."
Im not sure how i feel about this one. On one hand you signed a contract so i feel you should have to finish. On the other hand your contract has been altered. I guess my solution would be to let those that dont like it to leave. However in the Corps that could be a substancial number. I'm betting if you want to hire a lawyer you could get out under a breach of contract but is it really worth it?

The contract was never altered, and they'd have no legal basis for breach of contract or anything like that. Trying to hire a lawyer would be a waste of money. It was a change in policy, simple as that. You can't go around allowing people to opt-out every time you implement a new policy. What's next, allowing people to opt-out when you change the dinner menu?

Like you have ever read that contract. Dinner menus are never discussed in the contract but homosexuality is. Some of which when they signed up gays were banned and you were asked specifically if you have ever participated in a homosexual act. After that DADT went into effect and even then it was addressed but not asked.

There is more to it then just that. As it is right now many have open showers. You dont have a choice of room mates but they do seperate females and males. Yet they have not implimented a way to resolve sleeping quarters to keep everyone equally happy. Im sure they are working on everything but i see no issue with asking the question. As the saying goes the only stupid question is the one not asked.

Re: DADT issue again.
So what? Policies change over time. You do not get to opt-out of a contract because you do not like a specific policy change, and I can guarantee enlisting does not give you the option to opt-out of the contract if you disagree with a policy change. If you think I'm wrong, show me where in the enlistment it allows you to opt-out if you disagree with policy changes. Again, there is no legal basis for breaking this contract.
