I think that for pine trees to expand their population, that they actually need the heat from fires so that the pine cones open up and release their seeds.

Yeah, but it's a misleading piece of information. The reason being is that I was taught that in an area of Michigan where there are primarily Red and White Pine. No bishop. Oh well.
