Anyone else hear about the prayer session he's going to be holding that's going to be sponsored by the AFA, a group that believes homosexuals were behind the holocaust?

Re: Rick Perry
I don't think the AFA actually believes that homosexuals were behind the Holocaust. Though, I think it's pretty well documented that Hitler was a practicing homosexual and, as a means of keep it unexposed, killed those who he felt threatened to expose this. It's also been theorized that the reason why Hitler allowed homosexuals to be persecuted was because it was another step in keeping his homosexuality disguised. See German historian Lothar Machtan's The Hidden Hitler (available in preview form from Google Books here) for more information.
I'm pretty sure that belief regarding AFA came about from something from a rather badly worded statement from an AFA radio program last year. I think I remember reading about it somewhere.
EDIT: Yup, the statement came from an AFA radio program from Bryan Fischer. Read here for Bryan's explanation of what he was talking about. While I don't agree with taking the blame of homosexuality in regards to the Holocaust as far he does, I do understand part of his intention for saying what he said. Specifically, it's to show another side of the story when people who oppose homosexuality are cast in a Nazi-esque light because homosexuals were persecuted in Nazi Germany.

Gov. Perry: Economic Crisis Is Part of God’s Plan To Return Us To Biblical PrinciplesPERRY: I think in America from time to time we have to go through some difficult times — and I think we’re going through those difficult economic times for a purpose, to bring us back to those Biblical principles of you know, you don’t spend all the money. You work hard for those six years and you put up that seventh year in the warehouse to take you through the hard times. And not spending all of our money. Not asking for Pharaoh to give everything to everybody and to take care of folks because at the end of the day, it’s slavery. We become slaves to government.

Re: Rick Perry
Of course, the most alarming take away is that Perry seems comfortable plunging his own state into economic ruin because he thinks it will encourage people to come back to God.

Re: Rick Perry
Honestly, that's the best quote you can pull out regarding Perry likening economic crises/downturn to God/Religion? That is a real stretch on every level and I am sure has been latched onto by many now simply for the utterance of the word "God".
I think that the truly important part of that exact same quote is his reference to ".....those biblical principles of you know, don't spend all the money."
Yeah - that just smacks of Religion and Bible thumping.......Or is it just common sense? Hmmmmm.
