Well, see, this is a reason that I don't agree with. I don't have any problem with this on the basis of the rights of private companies. Requiring information/warning labels on dangerous products is absolutely within the rights of the government. The goal of these labels, though, should be information, not emotional impact.

i might not have agreed with this statement a couple of years ago, but whats to stop them from doing the same with foods they deem unhealthy? government and tobacco have always had an odd relationship like when they sent tonnes of free tobacco to germany after world war II.

It really should, freedom my ass. We all know that cigarettes are bad for your health and I still think they should be required to have small warning labels, kind of like alcohol has warning of birth defects but this is ridiculous. Again, how these laws get passed is beyond me.

It really is a slippery slope, next the government will be banning toys from happy meals...o wait they tried to do that already in California haaha what's next? Pictures of extremely obese people on hamburger wrappers and soda cans?? If these idiots can pass a law for tobacco, I'm sure they can get one passed for hamburger wrappers, considering how many people suffer from health problems caused by obesity in America. Or how about pictures of people killed in car accidents on cars, cause you know 40,000 people die each year from car accidents....

I don't mind the current warning labels, but this is over the top imo. As far as I've seen it seems with smoking you have two groups anymore:
Those who started because it was "cool" etc. AKA peer presure
Those who didn't because they knew how harmful it was and/or didn't cave to peer presure (or more likely, the peer they were with also didn't smoke, thus didn't have the pressure).
The first group, this won't affect (as nothing else did already). For the second group, this won't affect them any either. So who the hell will this target?
