FDA to Use Graphic Warnign Labels.
FDA reveals bigger, graphic warning labels for cigarette packages - CNN.com
Read that link first.
Im pretty sure that when I say its about time everyone will agree with me. Other countries have been doing things like this for years. I know in Canada they have a huge warning label on the pack that takes up about 90% of the front that straight up says "Smoking may cause cancer."
As a casual smoker myself it wont stop me, just make me go "thats gross" and continue with my day.

You guys didn't have this already? I assumed you did as as long as I can remember we've had them, now they can't even display the boxes in stores you have to ask for the type as they are kept in big cabinets.
Here's my personal favorite warning

Next, maybe we should put pictures of the mangled bodies of drunk driving victims on every bottle and beer. And then, on plastic bags, instead of a warning label, we can have pictures of suffocated babies. After that, every seat belt can have pictures of accident victims who weren't wearing them. How about every condom wrapper having pictures of genital warts, or pics of people dieing of AIDS...wouldn't that be a mood setter...

I agree that this shit is beyond useless. The information should be available, just like the health nutrition info should be available for fast food, but you're not going to scare anyone into quitting this way. I don't really see the need for this anyway. At least around here, I almost never see anyone smoking, especially young people. If we're not creating new smokers, then the issue will solve itself.

I relate this to a picture a big fat person dead from a heart attack on the box of my little debbies. It is govt over stepping. It is common knowledge that cigarettes are not healthy. They have a warning label, but graphic images are just not called for.

I don't smoke, never have. But this is way over the top. The anti-smoking nazi's will never quit.
This will do very little to stop smokers, and it may slow the youngsters from starting, but peer pressure is the primary reason people start to begin with.
Instead of grossing people out, maybe a more positive approach dealing with social influences that create the curiosity, or pressure to start would be a better method.
IMO
