Props to Texas
Humberto Leal Garcia Executed In Texas After Obama Administration Argued For Stay
"Texas executed a Mexican man on Thursday night after shrugging off concerns voiced by Obama administration lawyers and a broad cross-section of legal and foreign policy experts that the execution violated international law and could undermine the legal rights of Americans traveling or living abroad.Humberto Leal Garcia, 38, convicted of the rape and murder of a 16-year-old San Antonio girl in 1994, was executed by lethal injection at the Texas death chamber in Huntsville."
Im glad they went thru with it. If they were truely concerned they had 15 years to pass a bill of which they didn't. Good ridance.

Re: Props to Texas
While I agree this man got what he deserved, not respecting international law can certainly have very ill effects on our citizens who end up in hot water abroad.
Here at this site we uphold the virtue of leading by example and doing the right thing, which doesn't look to be the whole case here.
Justice was served indeed, but done with dirty hands. If we have promised to grant and uphold individual rights, any instance where we ignore those serves to make us weaker.

Re: Props to Texas
From what i read an international law was in place but our government did not get one done here. That is what would be needed to have any effect. I dont really see a failure when a rapist and murderer gets what he fully has coming to him. My only wish would be that when it does have to happen it should be every bit as painfull as what they did to someone else.

Re: Props to Texas
It makes me sad every time my state executes someone.(which sadly is quite often) We should not sink to the level of taking others life, even if they are worthless garbage, that rapes and kills. Also we should ensure that we follow the rules and procedures to the highest extent, because we are better than that.

Death may seem like a punishment, but it's just a release. True punishment would be to live a life of suffering. IFF God(s)/heaven/hell existed then there would be no need to keep fuckers like him alive, but that is not the case.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

I'm glad we have an HOV lane on death row in TX... less money I have to pay for his ass to rot in his cell.
Average cost PER inmate PER year is around $30,000 (inmates on death row are more). Do the math. I wish we could put 3-4 HOV lanes up in that bitch.Last edited by BigHub; 07-08-11 at 09:10 PM.
