    Know your limits.

Vet Killed on Coaster: Questions Swirl After Fall at Theme Park

"She said her brother had had recently returned from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he was fitted with a new set of prosthetic legs. Jody Hackemer said she did not believe he was wearing the prostheses on the roller coaster."

Now im all for vets but you have to take your current condition into consideration. I have a bad leg so i dont go for long walks or run. If your missing both however maybe getting on a rollercoater that doesnt have a 5 point harness is a bad idea. Tragically this guy died and it should not have happened. I cant blame the park anymore then i can blame him. Bad idea on both sides but at least the family understands and isn't looking to get rich from what i can tell.

So if the next time you visit a theme park and you see a "Must have both legs" sign right beside the "you must be this tall to ride" sign, you'll know why.

    Re: Know your limits.

I used to work for six flags doing security. All our parks have rules in place for each ride, on how much of a persons body must be intact. most require at least one arm and leg. But not all of the rides do. like who cares if you on the tea cups with no arms.

This was not a six flags park so I don't know what their policies were or what they should have been.

But I will say this VETS are the worst people in the world to deal with. Evey last one who came to our park all had this grand sense of entitlement and if they broke any of the rules and we had to deal with them they immediately pulled out the "I am vet I _____ for this country." like it some how granted them exemptions. They are very loud , aggressive and vocal about what they think they deserve and how they should be treated. and I could easily see a 16 yo kid bowing to that kind of onslaught and bending the rules when they shouldn't. I am not saying that is what happened here. But I'd be willing to wager it was either a complete over sight or something like I lined out above occurred. or it was just a shit theme park and didn't have the rules in place it should have.

either way a senseless loss of life.

edit: just read the article looks like an over sight by the operators an poor decision on his part.

I've seen the behavior you talked about and its an embarrisment. Most times the ones pulling that card only had to fight to make it thru bootcamp or one term wonders. I even seen people that didn't serve pulling that card. I caught my brother trying to tell people he was in the Corps and telling stories that i almost wish i had. I put that shit to bed quick when i found out. So dont take that shit at face value.
