Best budget cuts we could make.
Salary of the US President. ..$400,000
Salary of retired US Presidents ...$180,000
Salary of the US Vice President...$230,700
Salary of retired US Vice President...$132,000
Salary of House/Senate...$174,000 x 535
Salary of Speaker of the House.. .$223,500
Salary of Majority/Minority Leaders... $193,400
Retirement package not to excede 80% of their salary for the rest of their life regardless of how few terms they serve.
Feel free to add it up thats 4 presidents at 720k, 5 vice presidents at 660k, not sure how many ex congressmen, 535 congressmen serving at 9.3 million a year. Now do they collect pension as a senator when they move to president? Should we even think about the expense account for each one of them?
I think we found where the cuts should be made. Now the insulting part.
Average Salary of Service Member DEPLOYED / FIGHTING FOR OUR US. $38,000
A buddy sent me this. I added to it with some items but its the same thing i've been saying for years. Now does anyone even wonder why they are so out of touch with reality?

Re: Best budget cuts we could make.
I believe I remember reading that the pay for those (non retired at least) folks is different from every other pay for a reason.
For instance their pay would not stop even if the govt shut down. They are also well paid jobs on purpose. The thought process was both keeps them from being influenced by financial motive.
I have no problem with the current pay set up as it is, with 2 small exceptions...
1: Put them on the same retirement IRA type plan as every other federal employee. Ditch the Pension plan they have.
2: Severely change the laws when it comes to money they make from lobby groups. I am not talking about money used for reelection but the other money that they simply pocket. I am not going to speculate on the best way to do that but it needs to get back to the original plan that they can not be influenced by financial gain.
Just think of all the money spent by lobbyist by "job creators" that are lining the pockets of Washington instead of putting someone else to work somewhere...

11 million a year for 537 people in active salary and who knows how much on inactive salaries. Along with all the benefits they keep for life, security in some cases, unlimited expense account, government vehicles and free gas, and so forth. All that before they get lobbyists funds. If you think thats a drop in the bucket your a moron.

You also have to keep in mind this is just federal level politicians. We could go into what judges and justices make and many other up there jobs for the fed and states. These are the people making the rules for the common man but have no idea of what the common man problems are. 99% never had the problems the average american does because in realty money buys ignorance in this topic.

Re: Best budget cuts we could make.
And once again where would you like to cut it from? You always say the same thing but never have an answer.
Cut personel? Good idea except for the fact our stregth is what keeps everyone at bay.
Cut equipment? Send troops out with sticks and go carts?
Cut research? Thats where all those toys you like in your home came from.
So where would you like to take 350 million from the defense budget from?
