Firework Laws in your State/City
This was the first year (that i can remember) in which some cities in AZ legalized fireworks on private properties. This past 4th of July we bought over $250 worth of fireworks, and had a BBQ amongst our family and friends. We had a hell of a time lighting all the fireworks and we took every safety precaution in the book.
It always use to piss me off that I had to go all the way to California (of all places) to light fireworks on the 4th of July. Lighting fireworks on the 4th of July is patriotic and should not be banned anywhere in America. 4th of July is suppose to a patriotic holiday in which we celebrate the birth of our nation. I mean, whats more American than having a BBQ, drinking beer and lighting fireworks? What are the firework laws in your city/state, and do you agree?
I understand that there are a lot of fires started by fireworks (edit: fireworks don't start fires, stupid people do), but you shouldn't punish everyone just because a few people are idiots.
This, although pretty awesome is also very dangerous lol

Re: Firework Laws in your State/City
Previous to this thread my impression for my own state was that the only restriction was that one had to be over 18 to buy them in FL. But I looked it up and *gasp* we actually have laws that make it illegal, which are totally and utterly unenforced and in fact there are many large legal retail sellers of fireworks. From the fireworks stands to grocery stores which will feature premade packages of explosive fun. *shrugs* So we have laws, but they are universally ignored in favor of pretty explosions. And I have nothing against that

Re: Firework Laws in your State/City
Here in AZ we use to only be able to see them at the community college in which the city lit some fireworks. It sucks though...too damn crowded, no beer, takes an hour to get out of the parking lot afterwords. I would much rather have a bbq and light fireworks with my family at my own home, why the hell do some cities/states see that as such a bad thing?

Re: Firework Laws in your State/City
In TX they sell fireworks two weeks before the 4th of July and two weeks before New Years. Most cities have laws against use and sale of fireworks. This year most counties restricted the sale to either ground fire works or none at all due to the drought conditions.

Minnesota-----The Land where NOTHING is allowed.
Sure, we have sparklers and fizzy shit. If it flies or goes BANG!, it is illegal here.
I can walk out of any sporting goods store with a shotgun, but firecrackers and bottle-rockets are completely illegal here. Go figure.

Re: Firework Laws in your State/City
Anything airborne is illegal. However as you probably already know you can get a permit free of charge that conventiantly is at the fireworks stand. The permits states you are using them to scared birds off your property. I have had the popo show up once or twice. Ussually because i dont send one mortar up at a time.
The year before i bought 750 bucks worth of mortars. Then i make my own launchers because im sick of the ones that come with them blowing apart. On average i send up 8 mortars per launch. Of course some of those are double and triples.
When i lived in Fernandina beach the only place you could launch was the beach. Since i lived 500 ft from the water i was good with that. After about an hour of launching shit i had my grand finale. I set to box mortars off, 3 saturn missile trays, and just when they were about finished i sent up 12 triple mortars. What i didnt know was the entire Fernandina beach police department and about 200 people were standing at the end of the beach watching. I actually got an appluase for that year.
Sometimes it helps to be certified in pyrotechnics. The wife doesn't like that i spend all day cutting and lengthening fuses but she never complains while they're going off.
