This is an important distinction. Trying to use science to back up your religion does a discredit to both. For one, religion is based on faith-the belief in something despite all evidence to the contrary. When you try and use science to prove your faith, your faith must be weak if you need proof of it. Second, when you do try and use science to prove your faith, you are doing it backwards. You are starting off with where you want to arrive and you end up making logical leaps and justifications to get to where you want to arrive. As far as public policy goes, since we have freedom of religion, the only thing a public school can teach is the most widely accepted scientific theory. If you do not want your kids to get that as a part of their education, feel free to home school or send them to a private school where something else is taught.
Science may one day prove the existence of God. My guess is that work will be done by the psychology department.

Back on the real topic of this thread, there are way better reasons that Rick Pe(A)rry is a raging idiot than his belief in creationism. Like his crazy-ass statements that Texas has some sort of economic miracle that he was responsible for. 20 years of Texas policy are responsible for the state of the Lone Star State. We (Texas) attract people and business for the same reason India does. Low taxes and low labor costs. That just makes us a domestic version of India. It does not make us better. Also, he is fond of saying how lack of regulation is what kept Texas in fairly good shape. The reality is that Texas avoided some of the worst parts of the housing fallout because of our tight regulation of home mortgages. I love my Texas as much as anyone else, but shooting a coyote is not a qualification for executive power IMHO. The real raging idiots are the people that keep voting for a guy like Pe(A)rry.

I'll vote for any one other then obama hell I'd even vote hillary in and I have never voted for a democrat.
