Speed of light not the speed limit of the Universe?
Not sure if this is controversial unless you are a physicist.
Scientists Report Breaking The Speed Of Light, But Can It Be True? : The Two-Way : NPR
The AP is reporting results from a group of Italian researchers using equipment from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) that claims they've measured particles traveling at a speed greater than the speed of light
...
If this result were true (it has not been published, and thus not peer-reviewed, yet) then the structure of the world might be very different from what we believe. Einstein's theory ...

We shall see what we shall see.
That being said, photons are fully capable of moving slower and faster than the speed of light in a vacuum while in a vacuum.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

Re: Speed of light not the speed limit of the Universe?
yeah its highly controversial. Every thing in modern day physics is based off of Einstein's Theory of Relativity, in which he said the fastest speed possible is that of light. Nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. Its like the article says though, it has to go through peer reviews and be substantiated else where as well. But if it does hold up to peer review and reproducible results, physics is going to go through a major overhaul.

I just read this on AJE, and came to post it. See you beat me to it, though, Soy!
It will be very interesting to see the final results, and if confirmed, how it will shake the foundation of modern physics as we know them.

Re: Speed of light not the speed limit of the Universe?
If these experiments are successfully reproduced I can only imagine how exciting of a time it will be! With a new and improved theory it leads to the possibility of so many new and extraordinary doors to be opened. It could really be an interesting time period to be around... stooooooooooked d00ds

Wouldn't time be faster than light, I mean if space can be looked at as fabric and bent or folded and you could move from one edge of the universe to the other in a virtual step you would have moved a distance faster than light could. Assuming the possibility that wormholes exist.
